How do you register and manage your copyright?
Conducted by Deborah Murad, Executive Director of DG Copyright Management, learn about
-the life cycle of copyright;
-how to work to register your work;
-how the public domain works;
-and how to manage your intellectual property over its lifetime.
Prior to joining the DG©M, Deborah served as the Director of Business Affairs at the Dramatists Guild of America. In that capacity, she consulted on business and legal affairs for a nationwide membership on topics ranging from copyright and trademark to negotiation to rights acquisition. During this time Deborah was also the Guild representative at the Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds.
Deborah has appeared as a panelist, lecturer and instructor for organizations such as Maestra, Jen Waldman Studio, Woman's Project Theater, the American Alliance for Theatre and Educators (AATE), and the Dramatists Guild Institute. She has also spoken extensively on the topic of authorship in devised theater including presentations at the Segal Center (NYC), Public Theater (NYC), Columbia College (Chicago), and the Drake Theatre (Philadelphia). She was the keynote speaker at the DG International Devised Theater Conference in NYC and was invited to speak on devised theater at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Writer's Guild of Great Britain.
Deborah is proudly associated with AGMA and AEA. She received her B.A. in Economics and Political Science magna cum laude from Barnard College, Columbia University, and her law degree from Cardozo School of Law, cum laude. She is licensed to practice law in NY and NJ.
