Please join us on Wednesday, May 18 at 7pm for a DG Footlights™ reading of The Quiet Car and It's About a Man by CE McClelland.

Suburban commuters board a train to the center city terminal and take their seat in The Quiet Car. The conductor reminds them that there are to be no cell phones, music, or conversation. Instead, the commuters talk to themselves about their frustrations, conflicts, and addictions. As the train gains speed, it appears that the train is not headed to the city terminal, but instead to a mysterious place not on the schedule.

In It's About A Man, a Hollywood writer has ten minutes to propose an idea for his next movie. Unfortunately he is experiencing writer's block. As he rants and raves in frustration, is faithful secretary attempts to calm him down by making suggestions, which he turns down. But should he?

The Quiet Car runs approximately 30 minutes. It's About A Man runs approximately 15 minutes.

Social issues: fidelity, dependency, addiction.

DG Footlights™ is a program, created and moderated by the Dramatists Guild, that connects dramatists with free space in which to hold a public reading of a new work that is currently in development. This initiative operates on a space-grant model: a representative from the Guild will arrange for a venue to donate space during allocated dates and times, and will ensure that the space is available for dramatists to use to present a self-produced reading to the public, with an optional feedback session following the reading.

Attendance is always free and open to all.
