About this Event
Free EventLed by John Perovich, Southwest Regional Rep, and Sally-Jane Kerschen-Sheppard, Phoenix Ambassador, this in-person writers group will take place once a month, typically on the last Sunday of each month, for members in the Phoenix-Metro area.
We invite all playwrights, actors, directors, technicians, designers, and more interested in helping to workshop and cultivate new works to join us. It is free and open for all members and non-members.

The format: Dramatists can submit a work of 10 minutes to 120 minutes to be read, with the possibility of several playwrights having their work read in a single night (time permitting). These are not professional readings, just a way for playwrights to hear their work read aloud. Participants should be ready to take turns reading and to provide feedback to other dramatists in a respectful manner, should they be interested in receiving it.
To have your work read: interested playwrights should email John at southwest@dramatistsguild.com at least one week prior to the meeting date with the piece or excerpt that they would like read. There are a limited number of slots available for time, and work will be selected on a first come, first served basis. Please also submit any content warnings you would like to share with audience members. When you submit, please indicate which date you are submitting for. When selected, please bring physical, printed copies of your play to be read or be prepared to share it electronically with others.
Location: Our goal is for this to be a traveling group in the Phoenix-Metro area that meets in public spaces or private homes. If you are able to offer your home or business as a location, please email John at southwest@dramatistsguild.com. All those who RSVP will receive the location/address one week prior to the meeting.
By registering for this event, you are registering to participate in these workshops as an observer, to provide feedback, and/or other resources.
